There are many legitimate businesses online that can provide you with a means to generate income. With proper preparation, you can secure a position with one of them. There are also illegitimate businesses operating on the internet. Here are some of the things that you can do to avoid them.

RESEARCH

Does the company have a traditional brick and mortar location and if so, where is it located at? Do an internet search on this location to see if it is legitimate.

Does the company’s website list any contact information i.e. website contact, email contact, telephone number, etc. Physically verify the information to see if it is legitimate.

VERIFY

There are resources that you can use to verify the business. Here is a list of a few of them:

INTERVIEW

interview

  • Interview with the business if possible.

  • Do an interview with the company. This can be done telephonically, via email, chat or video conferencing to name a few. Here are some of the things you want to cover to verify legitimacy.

  • Is this company requiring any upfront money for their services? Legitimate companies won’t require this.

  • How will they be getting compensated for their services? No one works for free so they should be able to provide you with this information.

  • Is the interviewer utilizing pressure tactics to enlist you? This is a practice any legitimate company would not use.

  • How do they accept payments? Is it through a legitimate source i.e. PayPal, Credit Card, etc. Most Scammers request payments through sources such as Western Union, MoneyGram, or even their alleged Shipping Agent.

  • Are they requesting sensitive information from you such as bank account numbers, date of birth, social security number, credit card number? Be extremely careful, your best bet is not to provide this type of information.

Hopefully, you have found this information to be helpful in your quest to find a legitimate online income source. Too often, honest, hard working folks like yourself and I fall victims to these scammers. It is my intention to assist as many people as I can in avoiding these unscrupulous scammers online.

There are so many scams out there, you really have to be careful. I agree with you, do your research. I also really like the interview suggestion. That would be great if you can actually conduct an interview to find out as much as you can about their systems and policies. It’s interesting there is a Scam Busters website. Have you used that before? At the end of the day, if you do your research, and it sounds to good to be true, then watch out.

Thanks for visiting my site. It is saddening but there are many scammers out there trying to rip-off as many people as they possibly can. The best way to avoid falling prey to them is of course, doing good research. I have used Scam Busters on many occasions. You can find information on the latest scams and also report some that you have come across. Thanks again for stopping by and commenting.
